When starting composing books with chapters there is one issue that everyone seems to come across. That issue is how to end a chapter-- without losing your reader.
After you have read and check out and read, read books on composing. Read "The Aspects of Design" by Strunk and White. Find all the books on writing in your regional and not so local libraries. Read them. Obtain Writing Books from associates and good friends. Read them. Google and see what other books on writing appearance good to read. Ask your library to get you copies. Read.
Further, there is a lot of insider knowledge that you need to take your kids's stories from the slush stack to the "released" stack. The market is just not the like the adult industry, even if you are dealing with the exact same publishing house you have been sending to for years.
Can you generate income with books and eBooks? Yes, you can. Especially with eBooks, now that Amazon and the Kindle are doing the marketing for you. Choose your keywords right, rate your eBooks low (in the 2.99 - 9.99 $US range) and you'll make some cash. Just how much depends upon a number of different elements.
At the macro level, you start to see authors reacting to each other. You'll discover ideas that you want to check out and developed upon. You'll develop your own database of concepts.
Reading is the structure that all writing is developed on. When we read, from cereal boxes to Shakespeare, with Stephen King in between, we absorb the examples that we will later on use to compose. Read amount; check out quality; check out obsessively. Turn your TV off. Read while you consume breakfast and brush your teeth; read during your lunch break and while you exercise; checked out after supper and read in bed. Reading results in writing.
